Inside the Ocean Center, you will learn about Hatteras Island in the Exhibit Hoom. The Exhibit Hall connects science to everyday life, fostering curiosity and ocean literacy. Our touchscreen displays and traditional exhibits will help you explore the ecology and history of Hatteras Island and its surroundings.
Outside on our boardwalk you can experience the salt marsh ecosystem up close and personal. Our boardwalk is very short and easy to walk, but packs a lot of action. You never know what kind of critters you’ll see in the water, on land, hiding in the trees and grasses or flying by.
Oceanside Gifts
Our gift shop exists to help fund our mission. Our products focus on items that are nature and conservation-focused, recycled, and environmentally friendly, including products that come from sustainable resources and Fair Trade companies. We try to focus our buying on companies in or close to North Carolina to reduce the carbon footprint. All proceeds go directly back to funding our mission here at the Hatteras Island Ocean Center.
