Ocean Center Impact

The Hatteras Island Ocean Center can help you discover how connected this island really is, water, land, animals, and people.

This center exists to protect these connections. Programs like turtle patrols, beach science, and education only happen because people choose to support them. There are a few ways to help: through memberships, donations, or even sharing what you learned.

Mission Impact Partnerships

We’re dedicated to protecting coastal ecosystems through youth programs, citizen science, and inclusive outreach, aligning funding and partnerships to sustain coastal habitat and community resilience. We also welcome inquiries into sponsorships of the Ocean Center. Currently, the staff at the center are volunteers. Our volunteers are part time and seasonal. Therefore, we are not eligible for many grants that require a minimum number of weeks of operation per year. So, please consider us if you are looking to sponsor a cause. Any and all support is much appreciated!
